Whilst Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede took the plaudits for their goals in Saturday's 2-0 win over Ipswich Town, the Rovers defender was just as pleased that they were able to shut out the opposition.
Speaking to Radio Rovers, Kilgallon said: "It feels like we are back to where we were a few weeks ago when we were getting clean sheets every game.
"We've conceded too many goals recently. I know we haven't been helped by the referees, but we know that our standards need to be higher.
"We knew we had to match them because they are a well-drilled team, Mick McCarthy is a good manager and he has them playing so we knew we had to match them and we knew our class would come in.
"The first half was a typical Championship game, headers, blocks and clearances, but then our good players got on the ball and started playing some nice football.
"We worked hard and in the second half they might have tired a bit and we kicked on. We got into little gaps and played some nice football."
