Colin Kazim-Richards is a major doubt for Saturday's Ewood Park clash with Leicester City.
After scoring the only goal of the game against Hull City on Wednesday night the Turkish international striker sustained a knee injury in the closing stages of the game and will go for a scan on the injury this afternoon.
The news is a particular blow for Kazim as he has made a sensational start to his Rovers career, netting in both npower Championship games played so far.
Speaking on Thursday, boss Steve Kean revealed the latest in his injury: "He's still sore, there's a bit of swelling on his knee so he'll have a scan later on this afternoon.
"But at this stage it is looking touch-and-go as to whether he'll be fit for the weekend."
If Kazim-Richards doesn't make Saturday's game against the Foxes then Kean does have options as to who will replace the on-loan man.
"We've got Nuno Gomes, we've got David Goodwillie, we've also got young Edinho, so we've still got options there," added the manager.
"We've plenty of options within the squad, we even had the ability to rest Morten Gamst Pedersen, Nuno Gomes and Mauro Formica, although in Gato's case he was a little ill after the weekend.
"That is going to be a big point this year, we have to make sure that everybody gets a rest, that we rotate the squad and we use the full potential of the squad."
The Rovers boss is expected to select from: Robinson, Kean, Orr, Givet, Dann, Henley, Hanley, Ribeiro, Lowe, Fabio Nunes, Dunn, Formica, Rochina, Pedersen, Murphy, Markus Olsson, Paulo Jorge, Etuhu, Vukcevic, Edinho, Nuno Gomes, Goodwillie, Kazim-Richards.
