The on-loan Chelsea man lost is place to Adam Henley through suspension at the beginning of December, but then picked up a thigh injury in training between Christmas and new year.
After three weeks out the 20-year-old is now back in training and ready to challenge Henley once more for the right back position.
"That is how football works, it is all about opportunities," said Kane. "I've seen Adam playing well and obviously I've got to wait for another opportunity to play.
"I felt my thigh in training a couple of weeks ago, I thought it was alright, I thought it would ease up.
"Then I said to Dave Fevre that it had got worse and then I realised it was a strain, it was annoying that it was worse than I first thought.
"It dragged on a week longer than I thought it would which is a bit disappointing but obviously you've got to wait until it gets right because you don't want it happening again.
"I'm pleased to be back and hopefully I'll be ready to be involved or be in the squad for Saturday."
The defender feels that Rovers have done well as he's watched on from the sidelines, and is eager for them to get back to winning ways against Derby County at Ewood Park this Saturday.
"I've been looking at the results, I've been really pleased," added Kane. "They've been playing really well.
"I saw the game on Saturday as well which was a bit disappointing, but with a big game in the week it wasn't unexpected. To play at that high tempo and the way they did against Man City obviously the lads were going to be tired.
"But I think they've been playing well and hopefully we can get the three points on Saturday."
