Rovers were somewhat fortunate to leave Spotland on Saturday with a draw after a disappointing start left them two goals down to Rochdale.
A second half fight back saw DJ Campbell reduce the scoreline before Morten Gamst Pedersen curled home a last minute free-kick as the game ended 2-2.
Speaking after the match on Saturday the Rovers captain said: "Obviously it is always good to get more minutes under your belt building up to the new season.
"The way we started the game, and in particularly the first half performance, we were a bit fortunate to get a draw out of the game.
"We are still unbeaten in pre-season and that breeds good habits, but we know that we have got to be much better and all the lads know that, the staff have made that clear to us.
"Come Tuesday night we need to make sure that we improve on that performance and get another good result.
"The closer it gets to the start of the season you need to make sure that the performances are up to scratch, our first half performance against Rochdale wasn't on the whole and we've got to do much better than that.
"We've set ourselves higher standards which was made clear by the manager at half time and we did a lot better in the second half."
