The Scottish international scored the only goal of the game at Gresty Road, heading home Ruben Rochina's first half corner.
Hanley was amongst a host of first team players that featured for 70 minutes as the game time is increased throughout pre-season.
"The boys put in a good shift," said the defender. "To get 70 minutes under our belts is good, it is the most we have played so far this pre-season.
"It is good to get in the winning habit and in the last couple of games we have kept clean sheets which is pleasing.
"We've put the yards in with the running, everybody is looking fit and sharp, training has been a good standard. It has been hard but it has been good.
"But you only get proper match fitness by getting the minutes in so it is to get 70 minutes under our belts and hopefully we'll get more on Saturday."
Rochdale are Rovers' opponents this Saturday at Spotland as the build-up to the new season continues at pace, and Hanley knows how important it is that the side start strongly in their second year in the Championship to avoid a repeat of the last campaign.
"Finishing where we did in the table was obviously disappointing for the team," added Hanley. "We were hoping to finish a lot higher than that.
"So we have to start right and have a go this year and be consistant. If we get the performances in the results will follow and hopefully we can finish further up the league.
"We've a good bunch of boys here, the manager has got us going, so with a good team spirit and momentum we can push on up the league.
"We know what it is about now, there are no excuses, it is a tough league so we've got to be ready and we will be."
Tickets for Saturday's game against Rochdale are on sale and will be available from Spotland priced £10 for Adults/Seniors and £5 for Juniors aged 16 and under.
