Record signing Rhodes has been a revelation for Rovers in his first season in the npower Championship with 21 goals this campaign.
Now as Leon Best returns to the first team squad after his lengthy absence because of injury, the former Newcastle man can't wait to link up with Rhodes.
"I've trained a bit with Jordan and we link nice," said Best.
"We've been doing a few good things today.
"He's a lovely lad, down to earth, and now it is just a matter of understanding each other so once we get that going I think we'll be putting defenders through their paces."
The two players could be partners up front in Sunday's FA Cup quarter-final tie with Millwall up the Den, and for Best, the opportunity to play at Wembley for the first time is all the incentive he needs.
"I've not had the pleasure of playing at Wembley so I'd definitely like to play there," added Best.
"I've played at the Den before when I was younger, I was on loan at Sheffield Wednesday, so I've experienced that atmosphere.
"When you are out there on the pitch it is 11v11 and you really don't mind what is around you unless you score.
"I know all the players have got my back and they know I've got theirs so we just need to go out and play football and do well for the fans."
Tickets for Sunday's cup tie will be on sale at The Den from the North Stand ticket office from 12 noon.
Prices are £20 for Adults, £11 Seniors aged 60 and over, £10 for Juniors under 16.
