Anton Forrester netted a 90th minute equaliser as Bury drew 1-1 at home to Southend at the weekend, whilst David Goodwillie fired a hat-trick as Dundee United beat Partick Thistle in the quarter-finals of the Scottish League Cup.
"We are delighted to see Goodie get his hat-trick," said the Rovers boss.
"It has been a while for him in terms of scoring goals so hopefully that can help him kick on now.
"Young Anton has gone to Bury and we are delighted with how he has gone about it.
"He needed to mature and he get used to playing mans football and knowing how serious it is, so we are delighted that he is doing that.
"We are thankful to Bury for looking after him properly, he's doing alright there."
