Gary Bowyer felt that the change in system and personnel worked to perfection as Rovers recorded a 2-1 New Years Day victory over Leeds United.

The Rovers boss went with three forwards for the Elland Road clash, something that caused the opposition problems throughout.

Jordan Rhodes and Rudy Gestede both got on the scoresheet, whilst DJ Campbell was inches away from notching himself as his goalbound shot was cleared off the line on a good day for the Rovers frontline.

Speaking to Rovers Player after the game, Bowyer said: "We looked at Leeds and where could we be strong and where could we exploit them, we felt with putting Rudy, DJ and Jordan in you've got three very good strikers.

"We knew that we were going to come here and be really positive and I think it worked very well for us. The front three worked tirelessly.

"It isn't wrong to say that we could have had three or four in the first half. DJ has one cleared off the line, and we should have had a stonewall penalty.

"We were brave, and you have to be when you come to a place like this, I was delighted with all of them."

Rovers are back in action this Saturday when they take on Manchester City in the FA Cup.

Tickets are currently on sale to Rovers database members, priced from £15 Adults, £10 Seniors and £5 Juniors. Book online today at www.onerovers.co.uk.
