Connor Mahoney earned his first international cap as England's Under-17s lost 2-1 to Belgium at St. Georges Park.

The Rovers 16-year-old started and came the closest to scoring for England in the first half, a 20-yard shot striking the post.

The Belgians were already in front thanks to Dylan Damraoui's 19th minute strike to see the visitors lead at the break, and although Demetri Mitchell's lob saw England level soon after the restart, it was the visitors who struck the decisive blow to win the game, as substitute Matthias Verreth scored with 8 minutes remaining.

Mahoney played the full match on his England debut as the Belgians reversed their 2-1 loss earlier in the week. He'll now be hoping to be part of the Under-17 squad that will travel to the Algarve at the end of February for their final preparations ahead of the Elite Round qualifiers in March.
