Rovers have been slow to get going in recent matches, only hitting their stride in the second half of games and Rhodes knows that against the league leaders they can't afford that to happen once more.
Rovers face a Cardiff side visiting Ewood Park off the back of a five-game unbeaten run, so the striker is under know illusions of the task ahead.
"Cardiff will be very tough, they are top of the league, up there on merit," said the Rovers hotshot. "They are the league leaders, the pacesetters.
"So it is up to us on Friday night, to come out of the blocks fast, to come out with a quick start and be very positive, try and score some goals and hopefully by the end of the night come out with a decent result.
"We have to have the mentality of taking one game at a time and not looking at the bigger picture just yet.
"Hopefully starting on Friday we'll get the result we'll deserve"
December is a busy month for all football clubs with the number of games being played and the Rovers record signing hopes that the club's strong squad can see them through this hectic period.
"It is a very busy month, there are lots of games and lots of points up for grabs," Rhodes told Rovers Player
"It is up to us to use the quality in the squad for when we pick up injuries, suspensions and fatigue. We've got to be to be able to call upon people and as players we have to step up and take our chances and hopefully go on from there.
"It is a busy month and hopefully we can pick up a few points and go into the new year with a positive league position."
