Rovers' Ladies continued their fine end of season form with a 2-0 away win over Newcastle United.

Jade Boulton and Nicky Twohig got the goals as Andy Ramskill's side made it a fifth consecutive victory in the Premier League North.

A strong start from the Ladies was rewarded by a goal just before half time. Good work down the left from Steph Marsh saw her deliver to the far post where Jade Boulton rose highest to loop a header into the back of the net.

On 65 minutes the lead was doubled. Again it was from a Marsh delivery, this time a corner kick from the right that was met by Nicky Twohig for her second goal of the season.

Rovers could have had more goals, Keleigh Savage seeing a shot slam against the post late on in the game, before the striker was one on one but the Newcastle 'keeper made a great save.

"They were fantastic, it was a great performance," said coach Andy Ramskill.

"They were professional throughout, they turned up and did the job they came to do and that was to get the three points.

"The pleasing aspect was that they didn't let it slip once we were 2-0 up, they carried on creating chances and that is something we'll be looking to do again on Thursday at Ewood Park."

The win keeps the Rovers Ladies in second place in the league, and they'll be looking to sign off their season in style this Thursday night when Ewood Park plays host to their final game of the campaign.
