The former QPR frontman, who joined Rovers on a two-year deal earlier this month, had just netted his second goal in as many games, to cancel out Kevin Davies’ opener, before he was forced from the field.
Campbell went to ground under an innocuous challenge and was seen clutching his ankle, before limping off to be replaced by Chris Taylor on the stroke of half-time.
The 31-year-old’s loan spell with Rovers was cut short last season after the striker suffered a broken bone in his foot, which later required an operation.
But Bowyer was confident it wasn’t a repeat problem.
Speaking after last night’s 1-1 draw, the Rovers boss said: “We’ll assess it more in the morning. It’s a kick just above the ankle, so we’ll see how that settles down.
“I thought he looked sharp again tonight. He took his goal ever so well and he’s showing people what he can do.”
Rovers are back in action this Saturday when they face Everton in the final pre-season friendly.
Tickets are currently on open sale priced from £12 for Adults, £8 for Seniors and 16-21yrs, and £5 Juniors under 16.
Tickets will be available on the day of the game but with a large walk up anticipated, fans are advised to get down early ahead of the 2.00pm kick-off.
