Rovers Reserves ended the first half to their Under-21 campaign with a 1-0 win over West Ham United.
In a game of few chances at Grays Athletic's Rush Green ground, the only goal of the match came with 13 minutes to go when Diogo Rosado caught everyone out with a clever free kick to seal the victory for Gary Bowyer's side.
After Micah Evans had been fouled to the right of the West Ham area, the defence were all expecting a cross into the box however the Portuguese attacker had other ideas as he slammed the ball into the net at the near post.
With West Ham having already secured top spot in the group the match lacked the intensity normally associated with Reserve team games, both sides had chances but neither keeper was unduly troubled until Rosado's strike.
"It was an excellent free kick, one of quality on an otherwise uneventful match," said Bowyer after the game.
"It wasn't a great game, we lacked composure and quality on the ball but we showed a desire to keep going and working hard on a poor pitch.
"I'm delighted to end the group with a win, we've put in a good little run towards the end."
The win sees Rovers move up to third in National Group 1 with others around them still needing to play their final matches. Details of the next stage to the Reserve and Academy season's will be confirmed on December 21st.
