Assistant manager Terry McPhillips was delighted with the display of Dickson Etuhu on his return to action on Tuesday.

The midfielder hasn't featured for Rovers since a reoccurrence of a knee injury picked up back in February, but he featured for an hour at Brockhall yesterday as Rovers defeated Rochdale 3-2 in the Lancashire Senior Cup.

Etuhu put in a strong display in the centre of the park, with McPhillips full of praise for the Nigerian.

"It was good for Dickson to get his 60 minutes," said McPhillips. "I thought he was excellent, so that is a big plus for us.

"He's chomping at the bit now and he'll be all the better for that 60 minutes.

"He'll be back in training on Thursday, he's looked really sharp and has been very good in training I have to say, he's been back for three weeks now and he's done really well.

"I thought he was the pick of the game."
