Dickson Etuhu was pleased to see Rovers get off to a winning start on home soil on Wednesday night.
The summer signing from Fulham put in a man-of-the-match display as Rovers built on Saturday's draw at Ipswich by defeating Hull City 1-0 at Ewood Park.
"It was great, especially after getting a draw away from home, so it made it even more of a good win for us," said the midfielder.
"We know that picking up points away from home will be difficult and that one point we got made it all count."
In a game in which chances were at a premium Rovers had to patient but they were rewarded when Colin Kazim-Richards grabbed his second goal in as many games to clinch all three points.
"The fans were getting a little frustrated last night, I understand that," added Etuhu. "But it is difficult when you play against a team that just sits back and defends, it is very hard for any team to break them down.
"But we kept patient, we kept doing what we are good at in moving the ball, yes there were times when we could have moved the ball a bit quicker but we got the win and that is the most important thing.
"We know we are under pressure and we know that teams come and respect us, it is nice to be respected but it makes it a lot more difficult having to break them down.
"Sometimes you prefer teams to attack you so they leave holes behind but they weren't willing to do that, they wanted to play counter-attack football.
"It was frustrating at times but we just have to take it as a positive, keep going and keep playing the right way and keep the ball moving."
