A host of players from Blackburn Rovers Girls and Ladies section have been selected for international duty.

Rovers Ladies defender Danielle Oates has been called up to the Wales Women’s senior squad for the Algarve Cup, which takes place between March 3rd-14th. Goalkeeper Gemma Jackson has been placed on standby for the tournament.

Wales will play hosts Portugal on Wednesday March 6th, Mexico on Friday March 8th and Hungary on Monday March 11th, before having a positional match on Wednesday March 13th.

Danielle, Gemma, Jessica Lowrie and Jade Boulton all took part in a training camp for Wales Women’s Under-19s last month.

Centre of Excellence defender Lorrie Doze has been named in a 30-player England Women’s Under-17 squad for a training camp at the University of Warwick from Friday March 15th to Monday March 18th.

Defender Thea Mallett, who took part in an England Under-17 training camp at St. George’s Park last month, has been placed on standby for the squad.

Meanwhile, midfielder Hayley O’Donnell was with the Northern Ireland Women’s Under-19 squad for a friendly double-header against Spain in Madrid, while winger Beth Donoghue has just returned to Rovers after being promoted from England Women’s Under-19s to the Under-23 squad for the annual Four Nations Tournament in La Manga.

Beth earned her first cap at this level in the opening group game, as England beat Sweden 2-0, but was an unused substitute as the Young Lions beat Norway 1-0 before losing 2-1 to the USA.
