With it being Rovers' fourth game in just ten days at the beginning of the new campaign the manager is likely to take the opportunity to rotate his line-up once more for the game against the League One side.
That could mean first starts of the season for the likes of Ruben Rochina, Grant Hanley, Simon Vukcevic and David Goodwillie, whilst youngsters Paulo Jorge, Adam Henley and Josh Morris could be in the running for inclusion.
Rovers will be without Colin Kazim-Richards for this game, although the player is hopeful of returning at the weekend against Leeds United. Long-term injury victims Leon Best, Martin Olsson and Mark Bunn remain absent.
The Rovers boss is expected to select from: Robinson, Kean, Orr, Givet, Dann, Henley, Hanley, Ribeiro, Lowe, Fabio Nunes, Dunn, Formica, Rochina, Pedersen, Murphy, Markus Olsson, Morris, Paulo Jorge, Etuhu, Vukcevic, Edinho, Nuno Gomes, Goodwillie.
