Rovers were slow out of the blocks at Spotland at the weekend as Rochdale took full advantage to race into a two-goal lead. And although goals from DJ Campbell and Morten Gamst Pedersen rescued the match, the Rovers boss doesn't want a repeat at Deepdale tonight.
"The games have been organised for a reason," said Bowyer. "It is a local derby, Simon Grayson is an ex-Blackburn player, so we know exactly what is going to come at us.
"We have to be ready for that. We have to start on the front foot, we've got to show a higher level of performance."
Rovers are expected to name a similar squad for this evening's game with Bowyer still without several first team players through injury.
"Dickson has started has started running this week, so he was out on the grass," revealed Bowyer. "Paul Robinson, it is going to late September for the pair of them,
"Lee Williamson is starting to make improvements on his back injury and Adam Henley, we've been a little bit careful with him. The lad has trained ever so hard and he's doing ever so well, so he won't be too far off in a couple of weeks.
"With David Dunn, Ruben Rochina and Markus Olsson, these are just the usual pre-season niggles and we expect them all to be fit for the game against Derby County."
Supporters who haven't yet purchased tickets for the game can get them from the Deepdale away end ticket booth, cash only.
Prices are £10 for Adults and Seniors, whilst Under-16s can see the game for £1.
Kick-off at Deepdale is at 7.45pm.
