Rovers may have bowed out of the FA Cup at the hands of Manchester City, but boss Gary Bowyer believes the experience can inspire his young side to go onto bigger and better things.

The Lancashire club performed admirably against City's galaxy at stars in both the Ewood Park and Etihad clashes before four goals in the second half on Wednesday put the game beyond Rovers.

Now as they return to the bread and butter of the Sky Bet Championship, the manager has called on his players to turn the experience of the Manchester City matches into league positives.

"All it does is it gives us a bit of confidence and belief because in some of the stages of the game we did very well and created some good chances," said the Rovers boss.

"We can go into the game with confidence, the match against Manchester City has motivated and inspired the lads even more because they enjoyed playing against them and enjoyed playing in that arena.

"That is why it was a positive game for us. I thought some of our performances individually were very good."

The manager has singled out one particular piece of play from midfielder Jason Lowe as a particular highlight for him at the Etihad Stadium.

Deep in the second half with Rovers pressing for a consolation goal, they were caught on the break by Man City, but Lowe raced back to deal with the danger, much to Bowyer's delight.

"Jason Lowe at 5-0, they break and if you watch it back he sprints from inside their half and doesn't stop and heads is back to the goalkeeper," added Bowyer.

"Now that mentality that Lowey showed is a proud moment for us as coaching staff because his mentality was not to give in and the kid doesn't give in.

"It was impressive to see that because it could have been quite easy for him not to chase back given the scoreline but the lad doesn't give up."

Tickets for Saturday's match will be on sale at the City Ground priced £27.00 Adults, £20.00 Seniors (aged 65+), £14.00 Under 18, £8.00 Under 12.
