A young new-look Academy side saw off their opponents courtesy of a Ryan Humphreys goal in their first friendly of the new season.
The goal came about when Spanish debutant Yeray Torres’ diagonal chip to the back post was skilfully headed up and over the stranded goalkeeper by Humphreys.
Coach Terry McPhillips said: It was a very pleasing performance and result. Usually the first game of the season can be a bit sluggish, but it turned out to be a really good, competitive match.
“Both teams had opportunities and we still need to sharpen up, but this was a good start. We have a very young side now because we have lost a few of the older lads to the Reserves so all things considered it was a very good result.”
