Rovers' Under-18s got back to winning ways with a 3-0 away victory at Stoke City on Saturday.

David Lowe's side had gone nine matches without a win, but they put that right against the Potters on Saturday.

The young Rovers started the game slowly but grew stronger as it went on, taking the lead on 35 minutes.

After defender Bradley Bauress had been fouled in the area, Jordan Preston stepped up to take the penalty but his effort from twelve yards struck the crossbar. Thankfully fellow forward Dean Rittenberg was on hand to score on the follow-up, heading the ball home.

Rovers continued to press but it was the introduction of substitute Modou Cham 20 minutes from time that proved the catalyst to the visitors grabbing all three points.

On 79 minutes Jordan Preston made up for this earlier penalty miss by heading home the second, rising high to reach Cham's centre from the left for a fantastic finish, his 14th of the campaign.

Five minutes later and the win was confirmed, Cham again the provider with a cross that a Stoke defender could only turn into his own net to clinch a comfortable victory.

"Overall it was a workmanlike performance to get us back on the winning trail," said coach David Lowe.

"Hopefully it will give us a confidence boost with the busy schedule in the run up to Christmas."

ROVERS: Raya, Vicars (c), Langford, Bauress, Butterwick, Pierce, Harris, Wassi, Preston, Rittenberg (sub Joel 80 mins), Doyle (sub Cham 70 mins).

Subs not used: Lavelle, Torres, Wall.
