David Dunn and Jordan Rhodes set Rovers on their way with two goals in a minute just past the midway point of the first half, and although Alex Baptiste reduced the deficit on the stroke of half-time, Rovers saw out the Trotters' second half pressure to add further goals from Corry Evans and a second from Rhodes to make it a very pleasing day for the home gans.
"We've got to be delighted with the level of performance and the goals scored, but what was important was that we followed up last week's win with another one," Bowyer told Radio Rovers.
"We are happy with how we have gone about it today.
"I thought we were absolutely fantastic today in terms of how we went about it with the ball. Then you saw the energy that this young team bring into it in terms of their pressing.
"The you saw their character and spirit in the second half as Bolton had an onslaught which we knew they would.
"We withstood it, Todd Kane clears one off the line and then we went and scored two great goals.
"There were key moments, Ben Marshall was unlucky with his effort as it hits the post, then their 'keeper makes another great save. That is all in the first half.
"We'll debrief today's game, then we've got the international break, which we could have done without. We get through that and then we start focusing on the Burnley game."
