Colin Kazim-Richards marked his first start for the club with a fine double whilst Morten Gamst Pedersen grabbed a well-taken free-kick as Rovers overcame the surprise of an early opener from the home side to run out 3-1 winners in Ireland.
Speaking after the match the manager said: "We were made to feel very welcome the minute we got here. The conditions inside the hotel and the friendliness has been fantastic.
"And then I thought the pitch was great today. I thought it was a good game and we really enjoyed it."
Kean also had words of praise for double goalscorer Kazim-Richards, the Rovers boss hopeful that the Turkish international can fill the void left by the knee injury to Leon Best.
"He’s a big, powerful lad," added Kean. "Predominantly in his career he’s played wide of a three normally, but because we’ve lost Leon Best for a number of months, we’re trying to get him to play through the middle. And today, he showed his power and also his anticipation – he knows where the ball is going to bounce and he’s always on the move in the box, which is a good skill."
