The team had to work hard under spells of relentless pressure from the home side at the Amex Stadium and the midfielder feels that the belief and organisation showed can serve them well in the end of season run-in.
"We were under a lot of pressure at times and we had to soak it up," said the England Under-21 star.
"Overall I think it was a well earned point, but it was a little bit frustrating as I do think we should have had a penalty in the second half.
"They moved the ball well, made the pitch big and we had to be organised. We stuck at it and played on the counter attack.
"We got the goal, but 1-0 is always a vulnerable scoreline.
"The side showed a lot of character, we are a lot more organised off the ball and we are working for each other.
"It is the last stretch now until the end of the season, we'll take one game at a time, try and take maximum points and we'll see where that leaves us."
