Gary Bowyer hailed hat-trick hero Rudy Gestede after his match winning display at St. Andrew's on Bank Holiday Monday.

The 25-year-old grabbed a first career treble, all of them headers, as Rovers brushed aside Birmingham City 4-2 to keep pace with the sides chasing an end of season play-off spot.

The Rovers boss had challenged Gestede to reach double figures and he duly delivered on a memorable day for the striker.

"I thought we were terrific first half," said Bowyer.

"Our football was good and the big man, Rudy Gestede, was unplayable. He took his goals ever so well.

"I think the most impressive thing about him was he missed the easiest of his chances at 0-0 and it didn't affect him.

"He stuck at it and went again. His reaction was tremendous."

Rovers play their penultimate match of the season this Saturday when they travel to the Valley to take on Charlton Athletic.
