A tougher league this year

Gary Bowyer believes the forthcoming Sky Bet Championship will be tougher than ever.

The manager feels that with the teams that have dropped into the divison, along with those who have come up, it has made the league a more difficult proposition than last season's.

Rovers kick-off the new campaign this Friday night when one of those teams, former Premier League Cardiff City, are the visitors to Ewood Park.

"I think it is tougher this year," said Bowyer. "You look at the three Premier League teams that have come down and they've all gone out and spent money.

"Then you look at the three teams that have come up, Wolves is a big club, Brentford have gone out and spent money and Rotherham have gone and signed a brand new team.

"So everybody has been active that has come up or has been relegated, so I think it will be a really really tough competition this year."
