Jordan Rhodes stole the show on the return to one of his former stomping grounds as the striker bagged a hat-trick, with Craig Conway also getting amongst the goals as Rovers secured a welcome three points.
It had been a tough few days off the back of three defeats in a row, but the manager was delighted with the character and determination shown.
"I think the response from the lads has been magnificent," said Bowyer after the game.
"We started ever so well and scored a great goal, it is a fantastic ball from Michael Keane, a great knockdown from Rudy and then an outstanding finish from Jordan.
"We started the game very well, we were passing it around and we made Huddersfield change their shape because of the way we were playing.
"But for them to equalise, and for us to then lose two through what look like two bad injuries, made it a tall order for us and we needed half-time.
"We then started slowly in the second half but after that we had a good go and scored some excellent goals with magnificent finishing."
Rhodes nodded Rovers back in front from Craig Conway's centre, before the former Cardiff City wideman got amongst the goals himself as Alex Smithies couldn't hold his long-range strike.
But it was Jordan Rhodes who had the final say with his third of the game, a stunning strike that was in no small part due to the excellent work by midfielder Lee Williamson who earned special praise from the boss.
"I thought Lee Williamson was outstanding for his pressing for Jordan's third and our fourth," added the manager.
"It was terrific pressure from him and when it landed for Jordan the finish was unbelievable, to send the goalie the wrong way from the edge of the box is top class finishing.
"It was a massive team effort and it was needed after the week that we'd had."
