Rovers were below par as Fulham triumphed at Craven Cottage, winning the match 2-0 courtesy of two second half goals.
"The lads have had a great season but today it looked like a game too far," the Rovers coach told
Rovers Player after the match.
"We've had a schedule and a half recently, we had the big game on Wednesday night where you saw the best of us, and then probably you've seen the worst of us today.
"Good luck to Fulham, they deserved to win, but if we had brought anywhere near our game to the table then it would have been us, but we haven't. There are reasons for that, tiredness comes into it, the decision making, particularly in the first half was really poor and it wasn't going to plan, they weren't doing what we were asking.
"To be fair to the lads it has been a long hard season so we have to give them that one.
"We all break up today, they now go on their holidays after a great season, they can hold their heads high."
