This season's young charges will be out to emulate last years' batch who knocked out Villa on their way to reaching the semi-finals of the competition before losing out to eventual winners Chelsea over two legs.
The Under-18s coach believes a strong home backing can help their cause in what will be a first outing at Ewood for many of the players.
"It will be nice to have that support because ultimately that is where the lads want to be," said Barr.
"That is what they are all in the game for, that is why they are at our football club, to play on our main pitch in front of a crowd.
"So if we can get some supporters through it will be great for the lads, but only if we get the right result."
Rovers go into tonight's match boosted by their third round victory over Arsenal. Daniel Butterworth's second half strike proving to be the difference.
Barr felt his side didn't perform as well against the Gunners as they had done recently, so hopes they can put in an improved display against this evening's opponents.
He added: "Against Arsenal the lads worked ever so hard, harder than they should have, because we weren't very good with the ball at times. So hopefully the lessons have been learned and we can take it into the Villa game.
"But I don't think there was a finer goal in that round. From a throw-in, a switch of play and a cross to a great finish. It was a good way to win it and it sets us up nicely to play Villa again.
"It is a big test and these are the nights that they'll be judged on most. I hope that those who have experienced it get around the first years and put them at ease. Just play your game, there is nothing that you need to do different to what you've done already this season.
"There'll be a bit more of a crowd so go out and just show that crowd how well we've been playing this season. Hopefully if we can do that then we can get the result."
Admission prices for this evening's match are just £4 for Adults and £2 Concessions. Season tickets are not valid for this competition.
The Jack Walker Lower Tier will be open, kick-off is at 7.00pm.
