Rovers claimed a point on their travels in a match low on excitement at Molineux.
The visitors had the better of what opportunities were on show, but keeper Carl Ikeme kept Rovers at bay.
After a lacklustre first half, the only moment of genuine quality came just before the break as Jordi Gomez' thunderbolt was sensationally tipped onto the crossbar by the Wolves stopper.
The second half followed a similar pattern to the first with Rovers restricting the hosts to very few sights of goal.
But with the game drifting towards it's goalless conclusion, Rovers could have snatched all three points in the closing stages.
Ikeme first acrobatically tipped over a Gomez header, before doing likewise with a late Shane Duffy chance.
Paul Lambert made three changes from the midweek loss at Sheffield Wednesday, handing Jason Lowe a first start since August, and Matt Kilgallon a first start since January.
Having served his one-match ban, Shane Duffy returned to the heart of the Rovers defence alongside captain Grant Hanley. Craig Conway, Adam Henley and Elliott Ward the men to make way.
Under overcast skies at Molineux there was little on show to brighten proceedings in a scrappy first half showing.
Both sides huffed and puffed, the two teams struggling to get any meaningful possession, whilst goalmouth opportunities were few and far between.
Rovers' task wasn't helped when they lost Danny Graham to what looked like a hamstring injury on the quarter-hour, Chris Brown on as his replacement as the loan man limped off.
After Shane Duffy bravely headed away a dangerous centre, Rovers threatened at the other end, winning a corner after Kortney Hause sliced behind his own goal. Elliott Bennett sent the ball into the box, Wolves captain Danny Baath headed over his own crossbar.
Rovers threatened once more with a free-kick, Bennett floating a ball to the back post, Grant Hanley nodded the ball back, but Duffy's first-time shot was blocked.
Wolves' best spell of possession lead to their best chance of the opening half, Adam Le Fondre turing well before fizzing a shot over Jason Steele's bar from the corner of the area.
A minute before the break Rovers were a whisker away from grabbing the lead. Jordi Gomez stepped inside to let fly from 20-yards, but Ikeme got fingertips to the Spaniard's shot to touch the ball onto the frame of the goal and away.
The home started on the front foot after play resumed, Steele called upon to punch a couple of early crosses away from goal.
But those would prove to be rare forays forward as a well-drilled Rovers outfit kept chances down to a bare minimum.
Substitute Simeon Jackson prompted the first chance of note from Rovers in the second half. The Canadian latched onto a long ball from Kilgallon, but his cross-shot on the half-volley flashed across the face of goal.
Ironic cheers from the home fans greeted a first Wolves shot on target on 77 minutes. Substitute Bjorn Sigurdsson shooting from distance, Steele claimed low with ease.
The final minutes of the game all belonged to Rovers, with Ikeme making key saves to deny the blue and whites all three points.
On 85 a Gomez delivery to the near post saw Duffy attack, the Wolves keeper kept the ball out as Jackson just failed to connect.
After very little in the way of goalmouth opportunities, suddenly there was then a flurry of moments for Paul Lambert's side.
Then as the clock ticked into added time at the end of the match a Lowe delivery picked out Gomez, but Ikeme acrobatically kept out the midfielder's header.
The resulting corner was taken by Bennett, his inswinger picked out Duffy who headed powerfully, but again the Wolves man kept the ball out. A second corner, this time taken by Gomez, picked out the Irishman once more but his shot was blocked.
It was a lively end to the match, but the 85 minutes that proceeded it were instantly forgettable.
