Jordan Rhodes bagged a record-equalling seventh league goal in succession as Rovers earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Ipswich Town at Ewood Park.
The Rovers' top scorer joined an exclusive club of goalscorers with the only goal of the game in a tough encounter against a hardworking Town side.
The first half was instantly forgettable as both sides cancelled out each other, there was little in the way of goalmouth action from either side.
But the introduction of signing DJ Campbell just before the hour mark turned the match in Rovers favour although he played no part in the goal. Danny Murphy's corner from the right was hit goalwards by Grant Hanley, Aaron Cresswell cleared off the line, Rhodes got a touch, it deflected off Ipswich goalkeeper Stephen Henderson and nestled in the back of the net.
Rhodes wheeled away in delight, the star striker knowing the importance of such a strike.
Suddenly the game opened up, Campbell saw a header claimed by Henderson, Kazim-Richards lashed over when well placed and Markus Olsson volleyed wide as the chances started to flow.
Rhodes had further chances to add to their tally, Henderson with a fingertip save from an effort across goal then the striker headed wide an excellent chance for a second goal from Martin Olsson's centre.
The visitors weren't without their opportunities either, Guirane N'Daw was inches wide with a shot from the edge of the area. Then from a Daryl Murphy cross from the left Richard Stearman headed well wide when well placed.
Added time saw Rhodes have a further chance to add to his tally but from a Danny Murphy centre he headed narrowly wide, but Rovers saw out the remaining minutes with ease to make it three consecutive wins and three consecutive clean sheets.
Appleton's side have no time to dwell on the win, a trip to the south coast to face Brighton beckons on Tuesday.
